Thought we could all be inspired by looking at the beautiful work of Sharon Boggon. There is great inspiration for us beginners as we take our first steps. Look at all the lovely buttons and beads - so don't despair if you can't make bullion roses or do ribbon embroidery ... yet. I shall certainly be turning out 'grandma's' button box at some point during this RR :)

......and don't forget to read "how" Sharon plans her blocks.
Last October I was privileged to participate in a short workshop with her;She showed the blocks that are featured in her blog and spoke of planning how to adapt the basic block:
e.g.the block I was working on had"strong diagonal lines" and Sharon advised employing an "S" shape to flow across and soften the energy of those diagonals.
(I'm still battling with the block,Sharon!)
She also tends to include lace in the construction of the block, rather than as an afterthought/embellishment.
When you can see both the "before" and the "after" of a particular block,I find it most instuctive, and I hope you do too!
